Our Last Farewell

Hello blog readers! Today, we bare sad news for you guys. This post will be our last. We were happy the way it turned out, but we know there's always room for improvement. We will be blogging about this CEO, The Blogging Project. Hopefully, you will enjoy our insights, and that you will be entertained!

Our 4th Quarter Science Blogging CEO is all about our insights on Science in our school, the field trip to the PCC and the BNPP, and our journey in the making of our blog! We all had teamwork and did our best, implying our skills in all aspects to make this blog an excellent and fun one! Jinx was our web developer, wherein he creates the layout, font size and font of the text, the images' positions, and all the complicated work that Pommy, Daisy and AIM don't know how to do. Jinx was also the editor, correcting mistakes and added that bit of "spice" into our blog! With Jinx as our web developer, Pommy, Daisy, and AIM wrote the content of the blog.

Unfortunately, we encountered some problems making our blog. Our connection with AIM wasn't clear and we couldn't contact her; therefore, her answers were not included in some of our posts. However, the rest of the time making our blog was memorable and benefited us by making us learn new things!

If we could do this CEO all over again, would we do it?

"Personally, as the web developer, No. I am quite happy the way this turned out, and found it relatively tedious to combine peoples thoughts, edit and find a perfect format and template. Don't get me wrong, I did indeed enjoy doing this but, it was a bit too much for me. I've had sleepless nights working on this but nevertheless, I enjoyed it." - Jinx

"If I was given the chance to do this CEO all over again, I would happily do it! You'd probably be wondering why right now. It's because it was a fun learning experience! It also made us show other people our writing and photography skills." - Daisy

"Why not! It was fun and saved marine turtles' lives! I derived knowledge I never knew before, and as long as there is no due date and if there's someone to make the blog layout for me, I would definitely pursue another fantastic blog!" - Pommy

*We are incredibly sorry for this but, the member AIM was not able to be contacted. We are sorry for any inconvenience.

This CEO can be further improved if there were more interesting topics to share about. A lot more images, GIFs, and videos were needed give life and an idea of what we are talking about. Moreover, we shouldn't make it sound like a lecture, giving facts and whatsoever all the time, and we should add some humor to the topics to make it sound conversational and to maintain the readers' excitement.

Regarding how this CEO was handled, we wouldn't change a thing because everything was orderly and well detailed. Though it may be improved, as mentioned a while ago, the concept of this blog was spectacular!

What an inspiring adventure throughout our entire blog! We hope you enjoyed this blog we made just for you. So many things we learned, why don't we ask our bloggers what their most important thing they have learned?

"The most important thing I learned is proper time management and overall communication in the team. I've had sleepless nights because of this blog and was a bit frustrated with the fact that we could not contact a certain member however, in the end all turned well. I definitely will not forget this CEO." - Jinx

"The most important thing I learned in this was teamwork is very essential. You won't be able to get things done. As they say, two heads are better than one." - Daisy

"The most important thing I learned throughout the blog was about the Pawikan. God created such a beautiful and lovable turtle that are, unfortunately, endangered. We learned to conserve them, which greatly effects the world environmentally. To God be all the glory!" - Pommy

*We are incredibly sorry for this but, the member AIM was not able to be contacted. We are sorry for any inconvenience.

How about you, what was the most important thing you learned from our blog? Happy Sharing! Here, we are Jinx, Pommy, Daisy, and AIM wishing you a blessed day!

Diversity of Opinions: To nuke, or to not to nuke?

Hello everyone! This, sadly, will be our second to the last post. We thank you for positively criticizing our blog, and we hope that you'll enjoy these last two post! So, now with the post..

"Fast forward. You had just been elected the president of the country. Unfortunately, the entire country is suffering from power crisis since global prices of oil plummeted to a level no one can ever imagine. The only solution that can resolve the power crisis is opening the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP) that had been mothballed already for the past 30 years. Knowing that BNPP is just an 8-minute ride from the 7 km-long Morong Beach which is the nesting place of the endangered marine turtles, will you still allow the opening of the BNPP?" - TheUrbanGuru AKA T. Rye

Because our opinions differ, each of the bloggers have posted their own opinions on this subject!

"The Bataan Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP) is a power plant that has been mothballed already for the past 30 years. Its construction started on February 1986. A few minutes away is the Morong Beach, where the endangered marine turtles are nesting. If there was a power crisis and opening the BNPP is the only way to solve it, there would be advantages, also disadvantages. Let's start with the advantages! First of all, the country would get the needed electricity already, or even more than needed. Also, we will be able to have a power supply for the succeeding years however, since nuclear energy causes global warming, the eggs hatching time will get longer, as mentioned in our post concerning the marine turtles. Our endangered marine turtles may die because of the pollution, so the Philippines' tourism would not be as good anymore if they're gone. Also, the Earth's atmosphere will increase in temperature, causing the melting of glaciers and ice in the Antarctic. If I were president and I was left with the responsibility to decide to open it or not, I would say no. Why you ask? It's because I don't think the number of marine turtles should suffer only because we have no electricity. In the older days, they were able to live without games, TVs, computers, gadgets and they could live without electricity. So if they were able to, why cant we?" - Daisy

"First of all, the marine turtles should've been evacuated even before when a time like this happens. However, there's always a solution where nothing gets destroyed. As the President of the Philippines, I will open the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant, after evacuating the marine turtles to a place where it's safe for them. Moreover, if we can create a nuclear power plant, then we can definitely create a new habitat for our precious turtles. The BNPP has both its advantages and disadvantages. It generates nuclear energy which provides us electricity; therefore, benefiting us opportunities to success. On the contrary, we may be badly affected with radiation.

As I was saying, we can save both humans and marine turtles from harm through evacuating the turtles before opening the mothballed nuclear power plant. Hence, everything will be peaceful and orderly." - Pommy

"If I were to be a president, I'd open the BNPP. I have more concern for the peoples well-being than the marine turtles. Energy is a very important factor in todays society, and imagine the needs for it in the future. The BNPP excels in energy production if were to ever need it. It is fuel-efficient and in a very controlled environment. If we were to lose energy, we'd be in very bad condition and in need for this energy. Other country's would know this, and we would lose many benefits. We'd lose luxury for tourist, more scheduled black outs and much more. It is obvious that opening the BNPP would provide a lot more benefits than protecting the sea turtle however, they would not just die because of this. Opening the BNPP doesn't necessarily mean that the Sea Turtles have a doomed fate. If the BNPP was managed orderly and correctly, we would avoid nuclear disasters. So, in conclusion, I would open the BNPP but under strict moderation and care." - Jinx

*Due to technical and personal issues, the member AIM was unable to create her part. We are deeply sorry for any inconvenience.

In conclusion, we all have different opinions. There are different advantages and disadvantages, and some outweigh others. All we can do is just hope and pray that such crisis would not happen. Thank you for reading our post, and as they say in latin culture, Valete, amici mei!

I'm Radioactive! Radioactive! (Bataan Nuclear Power Plant)

Hello once again readers! We are astounded by the fact that you are enjoying our blog, and for that, and we thank you for your comments! In this post, we'll be discussing the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant!

Nuclear Energy

Now, to start off what exactly this site is, we must first discuss what nuclear energy is! Nuclear energy is any nuclear technology designed to extract usable energy from atomic nuclei via controlled nuclear reactions. The most common method in use today is through nuclear fission, though other methods might one day include nuclear fusion and radioactive decay.

What is the difference between nuclear energy and out sources of energy? Well, the advantages are that all equipments are impenetrable; furthermore, it generates a lot of electricity in a small fuel quantity. One pellet of uranium equals to about nine barrels of oil, or three tons of coal. On the other hand, the disadvantage is that it is indeed very dangerous if not maintained properly. An example of this is the Chernobyl incident, where it still lies unlivable due to nuclear radiation. Why don't we ask our bloggers if they are in favor of harnessing energy from nuclear power plants?

"I am in favor of harnessing energy from nuclear power plants because if maintained correctly, we surely will benefit from it!" - Jinx

"I am in favor of harnessing energy from nuclear power plants because we will benefit from getting more electricity, which is efficient because we will be ably to achieve many things with electricity." - Pommy

"I am in favor of harnessing energy from nuclear power plants because the supply of electricity we have right now is insufficient for all the citizens of the Philippines. There are scheduled outages, and also unplanned ones. This will result in inconvenience for the people. If we get energy from nuclear power plants, our power supply would be just right or even more than needed for our daily activities." - Daisy

*Due to technical problems, the member AIM was not able to be contacted. Sorry for inconvenience.

Bataan Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP)

Now, since we know what nuclear energy is, it's about time we tell you the field trip itself!

(img source, The BNPP!)

Before the field trip, We expected to learn the history of the BNPP. Also, about why, how, and when they built this. Not only that, but also why it was never fueled even though the building of this succeeded.

We learned even more than what we expected: the BNPP, 18 meters above sea level, has never been fueled as stated above; however, it's still maintained. It was the first nuclear power plant in the Philippines, and was formerly known as the Philippine Nuclear Plant - 1. To make you understand how a nuclear power plant generates electricity, let us give you a brief statement about a thermal (steam) power plant. A thermal power plant needs fire to boil water at 320 degrees celsius to produce steam, which generates electricity. The same way a thermal power plant needs fire to produce steam, which eventually generates electricity, a nuclear power plant needs nuclear energy to make steam. Nuclear energy is a fission process, wherein the splitting of atoms takes place. When it continues, it's called a chain reaction.

As stated, one pellet equals to nine drums of oil and three tons of coal, which requires 9 consecutive months for production. Worldwide, there are 433 reactor units of nuclear power plants; in the Philippines, there are 11 sites good for nuclear power plants. Now let's ask our bloggers what was the most interesting part of the BNPP for them.

"The most interesting part for me were the nuclear reactors. These are the ones that produce the thermal energy that can be converted to mechanical energy and ultimately, into electrical energy." - Daisy

"The most interesting part for me was the facade of the building because you can tell there's awesome things in there because it's massive and dour." - Pommy.

"What I found most interesting was the Nuclear Power Plant itself. Personally, it reminded me of the movie "World War Z", but aside from that, it was a really interesting place. It had that aura of it just being massive, and that it's dying to be used." - Jinx

*As stated above, we were not able to contact the member AIM, sorry for inconvenience.

This post was quite radioactive. Hopefully, you'd enjoy this relatively-long post, and that it was not cancerous for you! Thank you for reading, and as they say in France, Au revoir, mes amis!
